Talent Irrigation District project included in bill for funding to modernize water infrastructure.

Senator Jeff Merkley drafted a bill which includes funding to modernize water infrastructure in Oregon. Talent Irrigation District is very pleased to announce that we have been included in this bill for our infrastructure project for the Billings Siphon and Eastside Canal Project. The amount of money allocated for the district is $5M. The estimated timeframe for this funding is late Summer of 2023.

This project will help the district conserve water by replacing aging infrastructure which is over 60 years old. It will allow us to pipe the open canal that runs from Emigrant Lake to the Billings Siphon, which begins on the hillside behind the Port of Entry on Interstate 5 and heads west to come out on Frank Hill Road on the north end of Ashland. The work on the Billings Siphon will ensure that the district will be able to continue to serve our water users on the West Canal.

The district would like to thank Senator Jeff Merkley and Senator Ron Wyden for their work in including the district in this beneficial bill. We are extremely grateful all their hard work.
