IRRIGATION RATES FOR THE 2023-2024 FISCAL YEAR

The district entered our new fiscal year on October 1, 2023 and it runs through September 30, 2024. As we are all aware, the cost of everything has increased considerably, which affects the operations of the district. We strive to keep costs down as much as possible, but we need to be able to keep up with these increasing costs. It is never an easy decision to increase rates, but to continue to operate, it was determined that the rate increase for this fiscal year will be $4.00 per acre. This will be reflected on irrigation statements that will be mailed out no later than February 1, 2024 and are due by April 1, 2024.

Talent Irrigation District is the largest irrigation district in the Rogue Valley, and our rates have always been less than the fees charged by Medford and Rogue River Valley irrigation districts who serve considerably less acres. The Board of Directors thought it would be appropriate for our patrons to see the rate comparisons between the three districts, which are as follows:

TID RATES     RRVID RATES      DIFFERENCE IN RATES
Per acre                               $66.00                  $75.69                             $9.69
Account Charge                $150.00                $154.50                             $4.50
Total 1 ac. Charge          $216.00               $230.19                          $14.19

Note: $2.20 of the RRVID per acre rate is collected to repay the United States Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) for the interest free loan from the USBR that was obtained in the 1950s to enlarge the irrigation system to what it is today.
